This year has marked a fun new adventure for me. I have started delving into my own ancestry. I have been digging through old history and talking to different family members. This new hobby was brought on by our recent completion of the Paynton community history book, it compelled me to dig deeper. Who were our ancestors beyond the ones who moved to this area? Why did they come to this area? When did the family move to Canada, and from what country? What did they do for a living? How many children did they have? What religion were they? What was their education like?

There were just so many questions to ask, and I’ve been diving into all the research I can find. But I believe this is also a part of my healing journey. There are ancestral patterns, experiences and stories that have been passed down through each family line that are very interesting. I can’t stop exclaiming, “that is so fascinating!”

My heritage in particular has been in Canada since the beginning. And I don’t mean the beginning of Canada (1867), I mean the beginning of ‘New France’ (1600’s). Before that we went back to England and France. It really is a very typically boring farming family story until you read the stories of peoples personalities and their adventures. One of the English lines gets a little interesting as they married native woman and we became a family of native English half-breeds who fought with the Metis. Some were fur traders, others were farmers, while others yet were business men.

I really am just getting started, but I have come upon so much healing of the family lines as I continue to search. I have found a lot of the dark corners of my subconscious are now becoming clear and the energetic healing web is slowly starting to unravel. This will not be the last you hear me speak of this because… really, I’m just getting started….  see you at the library, or in the healing room. <3
