Everyone has some kind of physical discomfort they recognize in their lives. Reiki energy has the ability to help work through physical discomforts, whatever they may be. This is your first introduction to Reiki course. You will receive your first attunement to the healing energy and will begin by learning to do a Reiki treatment on yourself. We will open up with a discussion on the history and lineage of where Reiki came from and then move into a discussion on what universal energy is and how to work with it.

We talk about how to open your intuition and how to recognize that you are working with the spiritual energy. We introduce you to your spirit guides and help you understand how they work together with you to strengthen the sessions. We also learn to connect with our angels and spirit guides. These spirit beings will help us conduct our sessions and stay with us as we help heal ourselves and others. They will act as guides and messengers of the divine and help us expand our intuition as we practice.

Learning about the chakra system is one of the first ways to understand the energy we hold in our bodies. Our physical bodies are a conductor of energy, we can give and receive energy through our energy centres. So as we learn about healing the physical body we must understand the energy of the body to do so. As well, we talk about healing the aura around the body and how to understand that as well. We discuss the physical well-being of a person and how we can use our Reiki experience to help us develop on our spiritual journey.

First we practice self healing. This is a very important first step so we can understand the power we have and know we have the power to heal ourselves. We then learn to do a treatment on another to continue practicing with the energy movement and gaining healing experience. Finally, we move into practicing how to do distance sessions to understand that time and space makes no difference to the healing work we do.

We also learn that we store a lot of our emotions in our bodies. If we are not dealing with our emotions as they arise then we are storing them in our bodies, and we must deal with these pent up emotions as they will start to cause illness and dis-ease in our bodies. Where we do find physical illness, there is more than likely a emotional response to that area we need to deal with as well.

To take Animal Healing and Communication you need to start with a Level I & II Reiki Experience. We begin this course by doing a quick review of Reiki I & II, but then we jump right into the difference between animal energy and the energy you experience with humans. We go over where to locate the Chakras on the five basic animals I refer to: Cats, Dogs, Horses, Cows and Birds.

We then jump right into practicing Reiki on an animal of your choice. We do an in-person session and a distance session so you can practice and offer both types of sessions. There is a whole module offering specifics on each animal we speak about. Each animal has a different essence and you will feel or get a different vibe or connection with different species, as well as the unique individual animals.

We then move into the animal communication piece of the class. First it was learning how to use your abilities to help heal the animals, but the communication piece (which can work both ways) is there to help offer you spiritual connection and wisdom. The Advanced Reiki class, Level III, is a space to really expand on the Reiki experience you already have gained through your personal practice and from the first two courses. We now get into the discussion of vibration and consciousness. We discuss the idea that its our thoughts and belief systems that create our emotional turmoil and cause our physical pain.We learn methods of clearing and healing our limiting or negative thought patterns and belief systems. We teach how to help ourselves and our clients move up the scale of consciousness to a more mindful and positive lifestyle.

We also lightly speak about the energy of negative energy, spirit release and psychic attack. We teach how to bring these dark energies to light, how to notice them and remove anything you notice in the way of negative blocks and energy attachments.

Rain has been with us since 2005. She joined us as a three year old mare with a filly at side (Storm). She’s now watched me raise her foal and her grand-foal. She’s watched me grow from Ranch & Feedlot Rider, through Western and English riding lessons, to practicing Parelli. She’s been with me 12 years now and is my first horse I have had to heal, emotionally, physically, mentally. This girl is always finding herself in some kind of situation. But she is also my rock. She’s a confident Right Brain Introvert, who will try anything… if she wants to.

Prince is my newest baby, the son of Storm and grandson of Rain. He was born in May of 2014 on the farm. He has the sweetest and most curious personality of them all. He was sent to a very well-known local trainer for his first taste of riding in January of 2017 and he did very well. He’s now back at the farm and ready to step into his roll as a healing horse. He’s been very present in many of the sessions I have done so far and continues to win over peoples hearts and also ask them to step up in their boundary, respect and leadership skills.

Storm was just a wee filly when I bought her and Rain back in 2005. She’s a very confident and very independent mare who is stubborn but fair. She’s also a Right Brain Introvert who is very curious about everything. I sent Storm away to get trained in 2009, and started practicing my Parelli techniques with her as well, but after I unsuccessfully tried to breed Rain the day came where I made the decision to breed Storm instead to a beautiful Paint stud from Rimbey, Alberta. And a year later we were blessed with our third generation horse from this line, Prince.

Sonny is a horse that came to us in 2011. He was noted as ‘hard to catch’ when we bought him, but once he had a halter on he was like a puppy dog. I started using my natural horsemanship skills with him as well, and once learning the Equine Facilitation practice he has stepped right into that as well. He’s still a very stand-off horse but when he has a message for you, you better listen. He’s what I call my sensitive boundary horse. He’s very independent, it takes a lot to earn his trust and respect, but once you have it your in.

Sundoll I acquired in 2011 when my riding journey with Rain came to a halt because of her injuries. I was looking for a horse who I could finish my Western Rider levels on. It was love at first site when I saw this mare advertised online. So I contacted the owner and went to look at her right away. However, this mare had other things to teach me. With her, my main focus is building and maintaining the trust in the relationship. She’s a very sweet but VERY sensitive mare. Her sensitivity is her strength. She learned her job well (western pleasure) but she is looking for strong trusting leadership in her rider.

Dancer & Apple Jack are new to the herd in 2021. They are the sweetest little mini horses that found me when I was looking for a first birthday present for my son. I knew they were just what the farm and I needed too. Since the moment these two stepped into the trailer to come home I felt the deep connection and knew I made the right choice. They have since been asking me to step up in my own healing and helping me open up more fully to my own intuitive gifts. They have made their way into our lives to help birth the Equine Empowerment program. A program I have been working on since 2013.

About Roxanne

I was raised on a farm around horses and animals from the age of 6. I loved horses and always wondered what my passion for horses was all about. I rode horses on our farm, working the cows, and also just enjoying being in their presence. Staying true to my heart I began learning everything I could about horsemanship. It was on this journey that my horses and my life led me into the healing practises in 2011, when I began studying holistic healing with horses (and all animals really). As I continued my studies in the healing modalities for humans, I knew I could apply these same concepts to horses as well.

When I began my business in 2012 I knew that this business was going to be about helping people heal with the aid of horses. When I completed my Equine Guided Facilitation in 2019 – these two aspects came together powerfully for me. Horses are so spiritual, so powerful, so knowledgeable, and so willing to participate. They are full of truth and wisdom if we are just willing to receive and listen to their guidance. I love facilitating equine sessions and witnessing people shift their experiences and perspectives here at our Rafter TR Ranch, which Troy Bohn and I started in 2011. We began with a dream of operating our own ranch with about 100 cows, which has quickly grown to a dream of 400 cows, a couple horses and a dog… which fast forward to today – we now have 200 cows, a few more horses, a dog, a few cats and some chickens. It truly is a perfect place to heal, surrounded by nature and our animals.
