It’s not trying to control the situation so you are comfortable.
“Those people are driving too fast, I’m going to make them slow down”
“That person is too loud, I best ask them to calm down”
“I can’t believe that person would say that. I better tell them that’s unacceptable”
The only thing you can control in any situation is yourself. And if you are feeling fear, the best thing to do is ask yourself why? What part of this situation is making me uncomfortable?
And once you do shift this inside of yourself, the outside experiences will shift automatically…. they have to. Because when you show up different, you will not get the same reactions… and if you do encounter similar reactions you will not perceive them the same way, so to you they will still not be the same experience.
This is the ONLY way to release your fears… to shift out of them. You can not continue to contort your experiences so you feel comfortable all the time. This will never work. You’ll still hold that fear inside.
In fact you strengthen it every time you try to push through it or control the outcome. It’ll get the best of you every single time.
So get curious… why did that experience trigger you? What are you afraid of? Why are you not allowing others their full expression? What do you need to do to shift this fear you feel? How can you let go of the places inside of you that you are uncomfortable? Where do these places stem from? And how are they affecting you now?
The outside will just fall into place as soon as you get the inside right… it has to. There’s no other way… I promise ?
