Not at all. And though I still struggle I continue to be willing and open to learn more and more about the process.
I’ve been around horses since I was 6.
The first thing I learned was the safety and physical handling of the horse.
How to halter, lead, saddle, bridle, groom, mount, dismount, go, turn and stop the horses.
Growing up this is what I practiced. These physical tasks with the horses that we had at home.
The next thing I learned -when I went to school to learn about horses – was more the mental concepts of horsemanship. The training and reasoning behind why we did what we did. And this I also continued to practice.
And then I wanted to become a coach. I wanted to teach people these concepts. I had the urge to share my knowledge and my love of horses.
As I started my training for this I got stuck in one area of the lessons… something was missing so I went looking for more. This is when I stumbled upon Parelli and Natural Horsemanship.
Now I know there are a lot of new trainings on this out there but these new lessons started the next phase of my journey. Into learning about the emotional part of horsemanship.
So I shifted again and here I was trying to build a more sound relationship with my horses and guess what… these lessons worked.
Until they didn’t.
Now don’t get me wrong. I loved learning the physical skills of horsemanship, and the mental psychology and concepts, and learning to build my emotional fitness and strength really set me along in my journey…
But I was not done.
Not surprisingly I continued to hear from spiritual teachers and healers about my great work with horses.
Great work? It feels hard and frustrating.
One practitioner… not even on the topic of her visit… stood in my back deck and said “do you talk to your horses?”
I suppose? But not how you are assuming.
My horses don’t talk back.
I got multiple inquires about working with my horses as I tried to sell other session and classes regarding my energy healing.
“You are the horse girl aren’t you”
Horse girl? I’m the reiki girl, the body talk girl, the Akashic girl, the angel reader girl…. I went on to learn mediumship, astrology, hand analysis and yoga….
But not the horse girl.
I’m the girl who is frustrated beyond belief with her horses and is trying to piece all of this knowledge and experience together girl.
So I was not done.
I wanted to become the horse girl. The one everyone else saw in me.
The magical healer who talked to her horses and helped people transform their lives.
So I tried one more time. This time I went to learn about the spiritual aspect of horses.
It took me a bit but I finally found an amazing teacher with an amazing class.
And I started studying everything I could get my hands on about healing with horses, talking to horses, being with horses.
And for over a year now I’ve been practicing “talking to my horses”.
This did not come easily.
Many books I’ve read and many people I’ve talked to have told me how easily it has been for them to sink in and be present with their horse and how they feel so much better being around them.
This was NOT the case for me.
My horses brought up every single lesson, trauma, and heart felt situation I’ve ever had.
I’ve had to unwind thousands of thought patterns and emotional situations to even have my horses take me seriously.
But here we are.
I did not give up.
A million times did I blame myself, or blame them for the disconnection and the areas where we did not see eye to eye.
It was frustrating how one thing would go well n the next task wouldn’t. Or one day they would just be so polite and respectful but the next they’d be frustrating and difficult.
I had to wade through all of it. Knowing that each experience was a learning experience and I was on my way to a deeper understanding than I’ve ever known before.
I’m not there yet, but yesterday (and the last year worth of experiences) told me I was well on my way.
Yesterday I stood in the trees with them while they rested in a place of calm trust and understanding.
But as no one moved, the energy was majestic. I opened my heart and each of them came alive with conversation.
Yesterday I talked to my horses.
It was more than just reading the body language. It was more than just understanding intentions. It was a clear telepathic conversation.
This is not my first time experiencing this but it was my deepest so far.
As I’m still very new to this, I did not understand perfectly the messages. But I understood they were there.
It felt a little like they were talking a different language. I knew they were speaking, but I didn’t always understand the words.
They were speaking, not in English, but in energy. In spirit. And in vibration.
And once I learn to tune into their vibration this will start to become easier and easier.
I know once I get to a place of spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical match with my horses this will become easy.
I did not start there but it’s been one hell of a journey along the way.
And now, I am becoming that horse girl. ?
