This is my son. He’s 9 months old and we are out and about on the farm on a beautiful day.
He’s in the stages of growth.
He’s learning to crawl, walk, play with new toys and discover new areas of the home we live in.
And as we sit out here in the calving sled overlooking the horses and cows of course I am reflecting on all things life.
And the message today was:
“One day at a time”
One small step here or there leads to big things down the road.
Things sometimes unravel not in quantum leaps and bounds (although they can) but in just daily progress.
Yesterday he didn’t know how to pull himself up to standing by the bed… today he can.
That might not seem like success to you but to him it’s progress.
Nature takes its time.
It’s in no hurry. Humans are the only one in a hurry.
And I have to admit this pause is much needed.
I have a list of things to do 10 pages long. And I’m feeling really behind these days.
I’m trying not to be impatient but somedays it’s hard.
I prioritize and do first things first.
But as I do the things on the top of the list more gets added to the bottom.
And somedays we just have to pause and remember these small steps leads to big success.
The work we do today will set us up for what’s to come down the road.
So just for today, what small steps can you take?
Just for today, where can you pause and remember to breathe into the small steps you’ve already taken?
Everything in nature unfolds just as it should…. all we have to do is breathe.
We got this, one small step at a time
