And I have many many reasons why this topic crosses my experiences daily, too many to tell here, but it’s taught me so much.
Boundaries are a great thing…. when they come from love and truth.
When you know your truth you automatically step into your power and set natural boundaries.
You honour yourself and expect others to do the same.
Boundaries are not a way to control others because you are triggered or bumping up against an insecurity.
Everyone has insecurities. And we all try to protect ourselves against ‘getting hurt’ by them.
However, if you try to control your life around you so you don’t have to deal with your insecurity, that’s not a boundary…. that’s projection.
There’s a difference.
There are a few BIG lessons I’ve had to work through in my life – trust, patience, acceptance & surrender, and boundaries…
There’s probably more ? but these ones have been on repeat.
Trust my intuition, trust the universe, trust my own strength and abilities and fall into trust with those around me.
Patience comes with trust. Once I make a decision, I must trust it and have the patience to watch it unravel. Being impatient is still a trigger response.
Those things that make me uncomfortable or the places I don’t want to be… feelings I don’t want to feel – accept and surrender to.
Surrender to what is. Accept it just as if I’d chosen it. Deal with what’s mine and let the rest go.
And boundaries…..
I’ve had many experiences where those in my life have set boundaries that didn’t feel right or loving. They seemed harsh and fearful.
I respected them, only to my own demise,
Honestly though I’m a stickler for TRUTH so I’ll push back if I don’t feel good about it.
And I dug so deep for my truth, for the truth of the situation, and every time it was a projection to cover up an insecurity.
I’m not saying I have never done this… cause god knows this is my lesson too lol.
But as I work through my own insecurities and get to the truth of who I am, I feel myself able to set new boundaries and honest ones.
I also don’t take their bullshit anymore.
I let them be who they are and if controlling others is all they know that’s fine, but it’s not going to be towards me.
Love always trumps fear.
Always.
To find and set your truthful boundaries it’s required that you do the inner work.
Become aware of your triggers and insecurities, transform them into your power.
Step into your truth.
And boundaries will start to naturally set themselves.
I always turn to my horses, and now my son to find the truth within their innocence.
Both children and horses require us to set boundaries.
But they’ll act up and out if it’s not an honest boundary.
Honest truthful boundaries should come with no emotion attached. They should just be grounded in love and respect. Out of a place of honouring yourself, not protecting an insecurity.
They do help protect you and your loved ones. But they are not created out of fear. They are stable and set with a loving heart. ?
