I went out yesterday and found my oldest horse not doing as well as she has been.
I’ve set up some ideas to physically take care of her, knowing that death and change are inevitable when the time is right.
I’ve been thinking about death lately.
Not in a dark and negative way, but in a way to try and understand.
A few people I know have had to move through experiences of death lately- and one friend of mine said to me, it’s your gift that you hold death differently than many do and can.
This hasn’t been a deep dark lesson of mine, but it is a gift I am now learning to embrace.
Don’t get me wrong, I cry and I am sad, but that sadness is held by a knowing that everything is perfect in its transitions.
I believe this gift (ah-ha moment right now!) started at my great grandmother’s funeral. (For those who know my family grama Mary Sayers)
It was the first funeral I’d ever attended, and I stood at the gravesite and watched everyone crying… and I thought to myself, why are you crying, she’s not gone, she’s right here with us.
I was 11 years old.
And I’ve held that knowing ever since. I’ve ‘spoken’ to the loved one at each funeral I’ve attended.
And I know that their soul was ready to transition.
However young or old they may have been.
I also have known many people who have gone through the loss of a child.
Some through miscarriage, some at a young age, some were young adults… but all heartbreaking none the less.
So when I found out I was pregnant I gave this little soul full permission to choose his own destiny and I let go and turned that over to God. It’s outta my hands. All I can do is do my best at being his guardian.
I’ve had friends pass away at young ages and with so much potential and so much love to still give.
It hurts, but I know it’s divinely written.
My grandmother just had a potential death scare, experiencing a minor stroke. And I was there supporting her spirit in life or the choice of death. That choice is hers and hers alone.
I’ve had numerous pets and animals I’ve seen transition to death. Living on a farm we know we are going to outlive most of our pet family.
And that’s natural, it’s all natural and divinely written.
I’ve spoken about the living, young and old, and animals but I’ve also used this concept on our belongings as well (this is a little harder for me because their spirit/soul isn’t as easy for me to tap into)
But as I walk around our land and look at the place we have created for ourselves, I also know that if it was all to disappear tomorrow I’d still be ok.
This isn’t a wish or longing it would go… it’s actually a way of releasing the attachment to it, and this actually makes our connection stronger.
So my advice today … is if you love someone (something) yourself included…. set it free.
Unconditional Love is free from all attachments. ?
