I’ve been thinking about, talking about, learning about leadership for awhile now.

And it comes up in our lives in many forms.

As a parent.
As a pet owner.
As a worker with group responsibility.
As a community volunteer.
As a business owner.
And Soooo many other ways.

And as I stepped into this space of leadership I felt it very harsh, demanding, controlling, and at times disrespectful.

That was not me. I hated it.

I have spent years now stepping into my leadership roles. And yesterday while at the horses I got the words ‘gentle leadership’ and it hit home.

I thought I would write that post from the pasture but I just couldn’t, there was more processing to do around it all.

One of the biggest experiences in my leadership journey is being challenged by the disrespectful acts and words of others.

And I thought to counter act this I had to step up and push back harder. That may not have meant using stronger words or actions but more forceful energy, a stronger intention.

How ever hard they pushed me I’d just step up and demand that they stop.

Boundaries is the other word that comes up during this.

Setting that boundary that that is not acceptable. And disrespect will not be tolerated.

However, this is all just not the case. None of it lol. It never worked. EVER. In fact it escalated the situation.

So when I sat with it and the words ‘gentle leadership’ came through as I did a healing and clearing around being disrespected it all started to make sense.

It’s not about pushing back harder…

I’m not sure if my brain just wasn’t getting it or the teachers weren’t moving me in the right direction but it really didn’t fall into place until I LET GO rather than tried harder.

It’s not about forcing the outside at all.

It’s about shifting on the inside.

It’s about getting clear within yourself.

And letting the energy speak for itself.

It’s about owning your worth, owning your strength and claiming your space.

Honestly, these words do not feel like they do the experience I had justice.

Because it was such a personal experience and an inner energetic transformation, it’s hard to put into concrete words.

But I knew the instant the shift happened because this fellow in the photo below (Prince) has been the ultimate boundaries, respect, leadership teacher. And as soon as I shifted he instantly changed his demeanour.

I no longer ‘asked’ him to stop pushing on me (over and over again) but I shifted to a place where I knew and understood inside that was unacceptable and I wasn’t tolerating it and he backed right off.

It wasn’t the words or actions that shifted the dynamic it was the inner shift in me that created the result.

This has been the case over and over in my life for any and every topic that has come up.

It’s always the inner work that shifts the outer circumstances. ALWAYS.

Gentle leadership to me means continuing to do the inner work and becoming so aligned within yourself that the outer has no choice but to be in alignment with you.

Once you lead from this place you are co-creating your life with a power higher than you and things fall into place more than you could ever imagine ?
