Being a highly sensitive person is something I’ve been working a lot with over the last few years.
The horses are helping me with this.
As are the classes I continue to take learning more about energy and spirituality.
I’ve been sitting here, alone in the horse pen for a good while. They may or may not have been aware of it because they are on the other side of the hill eating on their bale.
I’ve actually been watching the cows beside me. But as the horses ate, they’d stop, one by one, and make their away over to the waterer.
I’ve now been visited by 5 of the 7 horses.
And this little guy was the last one to come visit me.
He’s very sensitive and usually has the other mini with him to help him feel confident (when I’m there at least)
But today he was brave. He came to the water all on his own. But it was fascinating watching him navigate his way there.
I could tell instantly when he noticed me, or at least first felt uncomfortable with my presence here. It was way out past the fence.
He slowly made his way and stood near the gate for awhile. And at that point he contemplated turning around.
But I understood – and to help him understand that I wasn’t here as a threat- I turned my back to him. I didn’t leave, I just looked away.
This helped him and he came closer. But still not to the waterer.
Because I turned around my dog lifted her head and came towards me. I sent her to the other side of the fence where she sat nicely and this seemed to also lessen the tension.
Sometimes we don’t realize the ‘pressure’ we put on others. I had no intention of doing anything but sitting here. So I lessened all tension possible. And it didn’t take long but this little guy trusted us enough to come to the waterer.
But through this all I could understand his movements. His shyness. I related so much to this.
And there is a way to gain trust in sensitive people/animals. And build relationships on that.
But sometimes more pressure is not the way.
