Finally spring has sprung. Seeding is in full swing, calves are healthy and on the ground, and the flowers are planted. I’m not sure if I more enjoy watching the perennials bloom each year or seeding new bulbs and seeds (and impatiently waiting for them to germinate and bloom) or playing in the dirt to plant my annual bedding plants. Its a toss up because each has its special moments. Especially the perennials because I never remember what I’ve planted last year or in previous years. So it is always a big surprise when plants pop up in unexpected places or of unexpected colors and I get excited all over again and praise my choice of flowers. That’s the advantage of having a short memory. You can enjoy the same reactions time and time again. I really have no end to enjoying surprising myself year after year.
Rain is also impressing me. My treatments are working and she’s much better. Our lessons have been going well and we are starting to move forward. She’s even offered the right lead a couple times in our last couple sessions. This I’m impressed with and I think/ hope by the end of the month we can test for level 3 in the Equine Canada rider program.
I attended a show prep day and well we are not ready for shows yet. Which is almost ok because I wasn’t ready or prepared in anyway. This summer I plan to attend a couple horse shows to learn more about what is expected. One step at a time.
I have also found a stud I really like and am going to breed Rain this summer. Another step I’m excited about. I’ve never bred or foaled a mare before and this is going to be a great experience.
I am still taking spring pictures and am not enjoying life without the internet. Although its not all that terrible. I do have access on my phone and all the basics I need, but I can’t upload photos at all. And still haven’t figured out if I can upload pictures from my phone to my blog. This is all so new to me. I will see what I can do and if I figure anything out soon I promise I’ll continue to upload photos, but until then I’ll just keep updating via my blackberry.
