We all know ‘those people’- the ones we can’t stand. Well horses have ‘those people’ too. Maybe they are too negative, maybe they are too pushy, maybe they are too controlling, maybe they are too quiet, maybe they are too slow, maybe they just aren’t like you… it’s a difference in attitude, possibly in personality, but why can’t we all get along?

Well we can. It’s a two way street, but it starts with you. You’ve heard it before… “the only person you can change is yourself,” and isn’t it the truth. So if you’d like to get along with ‘that’ person, with everyone, or your estranged horse that you just can’t click with… take a good long look at your attitude.

Each person, and each horse, has a very unique personality, but we all fit into the four types of personalities. Left brained, right brained, introverted or extroverted. Whatever your personality cherish it, because it is who you are. But its your attitude within that personality that is worth taking a good hard look at.

The Parelli’s have created a chart for horsenalities and humanalities. On this chart you are rated at how extreme you are in your personality type, you’re “spirit level”. The goal is to try and become less extreme. This allows us to be more open and adaptable to each personality we come in contact with, horse or human.

Being more adaptable; less emotional, and less dominant, more assertive, and more patient, will help you create a better relationship with everyone around you. So take a good evaluation of yourself and allow yourself to be the best ‘you’ you can be. Then just cross your fingers that everyone else will do the same, creating a better world for everyone.
