So I have been reading through my new Parelli Mastery Manuals, and I am learning a lot about the important concepts of balance, leadership, respect, confidence, trust, etc etc.
It all sounds so simple on paper! Just be like this, do this, and the horse will respond like this…. well (sigh) that is easier said than done!
I am working on learning how to “read my horses” and effectively communicate with all of them. I’ve been endlessly working on my own emotions, energy, confidence, leadership and trust. And all of this is working together to bring about change to my body language and true communication with my horses.
Think it, act it, and you will become it. I hope this is how it works because its so much thinking right now! (and that is not my strong point, but becoming stronger by the day!) I’d love to just be able to have a fluid conversation with my horses with out thinking about it.
Its kinda like learning a new language! Because that’s exactly what it is! Stumbling over words and expressions, saying one thing but meaning another. Its equine language and they are so fluid in it I feel like they are laughing at me some days, talking behind my back to each other making fun of the new girl. But then there are those days where we just get along and have great conversations, if only for a little while.
One day my communication with my horses will be fluid, it will be true and it will be fun. And that is what they call MASTERY.
