Mastering respect is not something I know about, but something I’m on a mission to learn.

It is SO important. It is the first and foremost thing you have to do. Right along with gaining the friendship and confidence of your horse (or also any relationship: human, equine, canine, or otherwise).

Your horse has to like you, and want to be with you. They have to trust you by having confidence in your leadership- as you have to trust and have confidence in them as well. And they have to RESPECT you, and you also have to return that respect to them. All of this goes together in building the relationship. And that’s the FIRST thing you need to work on while being with your horse; is developing a good relationship.

Well, in my efforts to delve deeper into my situation, I have come to realize that I’m not always getting the respect I deserve from my relationships. Whether I’m not asking for it at the right times, or at all when I need to be, its not always there and its hurting my relationships.

So here I go on my new lesson: on earning respect. When the student is ready the teacher will appear. And I will continue to find answers to this situation and I’ll enlighten you on how I have mastered gaining the respect I deserve.
