As August rolls to an end the preparations for harvest have begun. And the fall clean up has started. Making sure everything is in its place for winter. I’m so excited to get on the swather, combine, and maybe go for a semi ride or two? The crops look good in this area and it should be a good harvest.
I just finished seeding for a neighbour. Seeding in the fall? Yes, some fall rye. It was my third time using the seeder. I think with a GPS and some straight driving lessons I might be kind of good. I usually get to seed the swath grazing, but this year I never. I just harrowed the previous swathes and spread them out. Now to get the grass cut… hopefully for the last time this year!
Rain needs to see a chiropractor (for horses), I hope this helps her. If not I have other plans for her, some wagon driving, some liberty work, and I hope to breed her next summer. I’m going to use Tribar for my lessons, and if I can get Heidi to calm down I might ride her a time or two. I’m going to book in my level 3 test before the summers over.
My horsemanship videos are proving worth their purchases. It’s amazing how many different techniques there are out there, and what each believes is correct horsemanship. I’m not sure if I just got smarter or more confused.
One thing I do know is that I really appreciate a horse with respect. And most times the fault is not of the horse but of the person working with the horse. It doesn’t matter what you do… as long as you do it correctly so the horse understands.
I can’t wait for next week when Troy will be here. I’ll finally get to drive the quad! It should be an awesome week. Maybe go for a ride? Or he can show me his semi driving talents? (I love semi rides) Perhaps get some hot water working? The antifreeze to stop leaking out of my car? Maybe he’ll finish stapling the fence for me? Actually now that the mosquitoes are gone I can staple, but there’s wire still needs to be rolled…
I mean, uh, I have a very relaxing visit planned for him….. 😉
