Literally and figuratively

This morning I got the potatoes dug.

And as I played in the dirt LITERALLY…
no gloves, no shovel, I just pulled the tops and dug in the dirt.

I was thinking it’s the most rewarding feeling.

For a few reasons.

1. A task was completed – we saw this through from seed to crop

2. The dirt has a very grounding feeling to it. Even though I just sat there n thought … last year this was all cow manure ??‍♀️??

3. And one thing… a seedling… multiplied and gave us many many more.…. I wanted more of that feeling.

4. I was reminded about the cycle of life – death and regeneration- in its many many forms

5. And even though everyone can know how the process goes – they can learn and understand how to grow a garden …. It’s not the same as actually doing it.

There’s something to be said about doing the work.

It’s going through the process, it’s the experience, it’s getting your hands dirty that actually gives you the satisfaction that you have done it.

Now growing a garden is not everyone’s thing… but what I’m talking about it’s more than that.

It’s going and doing the thing that you want to do.

Go out get your hands dirty, have the experiences, work through the process of those experiences and feel the satisfaction of seeing something through. ?
