I am Metis and These are my great great grandparents. (Along with sooo many other grandchildren)
Joseph and Mary Rose (Pritchard) Sayers
Land was taken away from both of these families in the late 1800’s. Both of their families, big in the fur trade business, were pushed west from Manitoba to start over. Jobs were lost and during the uprising they lost almost everything but their lives.
They BOTH were captured and taken hostage with their families by different native tribes during the Riel Rebellion as children in two different locations: Bresaylor and Frog Lake
There’s so much more to these stories and the experiences run so much deeper.
I’m a survivor of generational trauma…
And over the last 10 years I’ve done some KICK ASS healing.
Most of it ancestral.
And as I watch the news, listen to the radio, see the posts
(which I try to stay away from any of this, but that’s a different story)
– cause I’m not living under a rock.
ALL I CAN DO IS SMILE.

Where’s your anger?
Where’s your hurt?
Where’s your pay back?
Where’s your fear?
Where’s your resentment?
They took everything and beat it out of you!!! Where’s your voice?
HERES MY VOICE!
I HAVE HEALED myself and those who have come before and those that are yet to come.
I HAVE HEALED, I have stepped into my gifts. And out of my anger and fear.
I have left the past in the past.
I’ve broken the cycles.
I’ve already heard the horror stories that you may just be hearing now, they are familiar to our family… WE LIVED IT, we passed down the anger, resentment, fear…
But you know what they also passed down? Courage, compassion, empathy, connection, passion, intuition, strength, longevity, family bonds….
Their gifts… and I don’t mean things, I mean traits.
I may have experienced the harsh things that come from living a life of fear and anger, but these experiences have lead me to the most beautiful part of me!!!!
My gifts. My connections. My intuition.
Yes, this the history of Canada. And it might be shitty in places, but it’s also beautiful.
