She’s had some potent messages for me lately.
Leadership is always top of her list. And in many situations this teaching applies to me right now.
Honing my leadership skills.
In my business, in my family, in my community.
But this time she was a little more specific.
She was speaking to the mother wound.
And motherhood.
Bring a mother takes great leadership skills and abilities.
When I first got Rain, she was the first horse I bought on my own, and she came with a filly at her side. She was momma Rain.
She is also the lead mare in my herd.
She’s wounded on her front hoof and she still can kick some serious ass out there when she needs too.
She knows how to use her inner goddess power.
I was sitting in the nursery with my two year old yesterday and from the window I could see her standing out in the pasture.
Her message was clear and strong.
“You are a great Mother”
I do question myself sometimes, but I know I’m doing the best I can.
But sometimes it’s just nice to hear it. It’s reassuring to know my efforts have been seen and acknowledged.
I’m not sure I’ve mentioned this before but being a mother was not on my “to do” list
As a teenager I swore I was not having children- because I was not raising them in an environment like I had been raised.
If I was to have kids I’d first have to learn how to raise them with love and respect not fear and anger.
And I have since done so much healing on my version of the mother wound that when the universe offered me the opportunity to become a mother I was not triggered, I was surprised.
And I knew I’d done enough healing to see this through.
Once becoming a mother challenges did arise, but I have the patience and tools now to deal with those challenges the best ways I can.
And it’s taken my leadership skills to the next level.
Honestly, I don’t know what happens when you become a parent but I even know animals experience the same shifts, your instincts kick in, your hormones change, and your whole life shifts.
I changed.
My intuition got stronger, and I was not putting up with peoples shit anymore lol.
Boundaries got put into place where I never knew I needed boundaries before.
And two adults became a family of three, then four.
Decisions changed. Some fell away and some got stronger.
There’s now a place to be in the moment of joy and play with the new experiences the kids create.
And a place to step up and lead the way, mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
A lot has shifted for me in these past 10 years of healing. And so much more in these past 2.5 years of motherhood.
Healing the mother wound has been the ultimate life changer for me.
Stepping into my power, stepping into my leadership, healing my ancestral wounds (where the mother wound stemmed from) and following my journey forward.
There’s still more work to do as I grow into motherhood as these kids grow in life. But I feel like I have a solid foundation I can fall back on when I need to.
Thank you Rain for the reminder. Thank you Rain for being there for all these years. (And so many more to come.) ![]()
