All of my Canadian.
The Indigenous side of being Canadian.
The French side of being Canadian.
The English/Scottish/Irish side of being Canadian.
This is my Canada, the good and the bad.
I’ve done A LOT of ancestral healing to get me to the place of accepting that each piece of my past lead me to where I am now.
Within each of us is the passed down ancestral wounds and gifts of our ancestors 7 generations back.
And within each of us is the ability to impact the next 7 generations beyond us.
And my ancestors have built this country more than 7 generations back.
My blood and sweat is all Canadian.
From the First Nations cultures that were living on this land when the Europeans first arrived, to the French settlers that arrived in what they established as New France, to the fur trade that mixed the cultures and brought the English into the Hudson Bay Area.
Through EACH and EVERY battle and skirmish that impacted the nation and made it what it is today.
Through each and every invention and newly established tradition that we still participate in today.
Through the mixing of each of these cultures and the welcoming of SO many more.
Today I celebrate Canada.
