Its hard to focus on this subject, because my mind is wandering to all these thoughts, examples, and times I’ve read or heard this topic spoken about. But its SO TRUE.

It is the truth, when you are ready you will open doors to opportunities, maybe all at once or one at a time. But all throughout your lifetime you are a product of your choices, both positive and negative. Your thoughts are the direction in which you walk. They make our decisions, lay out our morals and put up our limitations. Its the way in which we shape our lives to be what we want to be in order to find our own happiness.

When you are ready, the rest of your life will happen. Just lately I have seen so many examples of people not wanting to see the truth or refusing great opportunities. And I know I have been there done that, I am just a student of my own life lessons as well, but this is what it’s taught me.

You can call it whatever you want, positive self thinking, preying, meditation, “the secret”, and I’m not putting down any one of these techniques because I’ve used them all, sometimes at all at the same time, but in the end they are all just taking a HUGE evaluation of your inner thoughts and changing them to point in the direction you want them to go.

Opportunities are all around us: jobs, money, careers, friendships, relationships, education, courses, knowledge, children, organizations, businesses -everywhere, and they are what you make of them. Sometimes they are a no, sometimes they are a yes. Sometimes we have to work REALLY hard to reap the rewards, and sometimes we can just just sit back and enjoy.

What does this have to do with Parelli? or horses? Nothing, but everything at the same time. It has to do with my journey of never-ending self-improvement. Parelli was one of those opportunities I was ready for. I kept kicking myself and thinking… “if I’d only knew this back then”… but in all honesty, I wasn’t ready. In 2004 I was in the Ranch and Feedlot Rider program in Vermilion at Lakeland College – which by the way is an excellent program and college. I was learning every day about horses and riding and training and I read all about Parelli, I read the whole Parelli book, and I quoted Pat Parelli on more than one occasion in my reports and presentations, but it never sank in, I wasn’t ready. I was refusing, I was blind to my own truths.

Open your eyes to your life. Walk where you want to walk. When the student is ready, the teacher shall appear. When the heart is ready, the love shall appear. When you are ready, the opportunity will appear. When it does- embrace it and let it lead you forward. Sometimes for only a moment, but sometimes it’ll change your life.
